When we were thinking fried whole belly clams the previous day, logistically Westfair Fish & Chips was more convenient to get to.
But since the whole belly clams there were just ok, we decided to stop off at Lenny's, one of the more unanimously recommended places for fried whole belly clams.
But first, we started off with steamers.
Steamers (w/ broth, butter)
The bar-man was kind enough to give us a refresher on how to eat these things (this kid's explanation is actually quite well done) and it was off to the races. I don't think it's possible not to get your hands dirty eating these things, but they were frickn fantastic.
Fried Whole Belly Clams
Burst of whole belly juice? Check. Freshly fried? Check. Delicious? Check.
This was a nice ending to a day of good eating: Good food, friendly service and to top it off, a Red Sox haven.
Man, I'm already missing the fried whole belly clams again.
