Pho Hoa : Doraville

We were running late and ended up driving out to dinner around 9:30 pm on a Sunday.  Figuring most places would be closed, we ended up at Pho Hoa, figuring something near the Ranch 99 would have the best chance of being open.

This was probably our most unsatisfying meal, but perhaps it's a bit unfair to critique a place negatively when we dined at such an odd hour.

Pho - eh, ok.  Meat a bit tough.  Broth perhaps an msg sharper front-end flavor and the back-end flavor ginger(?) or lemongrass.  I just wasn't that impressed.

Bun w/ shrimp and pork - The pork ranged from bad to terrible, seemingly just having been sitting out on heat pad. The rest was ok, but I think it's pretty difficult to mess up the other stuff...

Durian shake - Shrug, your run of the mill durian shake.

Again, we were eating late in the day, so perhaps it's unfair to judge. But on the other hand, why stay open that late if you're not going to serve decent stuff? I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to tell one or another, since with so many other ethnic places to try in the Buford Hwy area, I strongly doubt I'll be returning.
