Vieng Thong : Hartford

I was going through some pictures and found that I had forgot to write about this Thai place called Vieng Thong in Avon.

Vieng what?

Yes, that's right Vieng Thong. I don't care what associations you have in your mind right now, whether it be the throwback Sisqo song or whatever, go on and get it out of your system.

Ready?

Ok, so this had all the makings to be a hole-in-the-wall gem. We had tremendous difficulty finding this place. We stopped to ask for directions 3 times and even when we were in the right plaza, we had to wander about looking for it. We finally found it by following our noses.

Yeah, like Toucan Sam.

Stepping inside, we thought we had made some sort of mistake. The inside looked like it was a suburban dentist office. There actually was a cosmetic dentristy business upstairs and while waiting for a table, it was just odd comprehending that there would be a Thai restaurant right below a dentist building.

Anyways, the food. I really wish I could say that this was a gem. The service was friendly, but the food, well, it was not worth the trouble we had gone through. (I apologize for these pictures. We were starving by the time we got here and were halfway through our meal before realizing that we had forgotten to take pictures. It was also dark in there.)

Tofu Delight - your standard thai vegetable dish.

Red Curry - probably the strongest dish, but still nothing all that special.

Basil Crispy Duck - Duck pieces were over-cooked, making it a bit tough to chew.

Thai Iced Tea - Very strong tea flavor, which was nice. But then also too much accompanying creme and sugar.

Mango sticky rice - I always love this dessert, but this was nothing to write home about.

I really wish this story had a happy ending, but we all felt after our adventures finding the place, it was a bit of a let-down.
